Within two years of being with my first employers, I was asked to step up to a Senior Care role and, very shortly after that, I was promoted to Care Co-ordinator. I was given responsibility for line managing care staff and co-ordinating carer’s rotas. During this time I was approached by another care agency to take on the role of Senior Care Co-ordinator; a role which would include managing a number of Care Co-ordinators, carers and running areas on a much larger scale. I later became the Service Manager for this company, overseeing the whole service. I learned how important it was to liaise closely with local authorities commissioning care and to work as part of the multi disciplinary team including nurse, occupational therapists and social workers.
After four years I felt that it was time for a new challenge so I took on a similar role with a new agency but this time building the business from scratch. I came across many issues and difficulties which I simply did not agree with and that was how the idea to start my own care agency was born.
I’d dreamed for a long time about starting my own agency; an agency which would put the needs of the people it served first, before all other considerations. My aspiration was always to have a company which treated services users as individuals first as opposed to the ‘numbers’ I had so often come across previously. Like-minded family members and I joined forces and Blossom Care For You was formed.
Blossom Care For You is a family run agency. We believe that every single person should be treated as just that; a whole person deserving dignity and respect. These beliefs are at the core of our philosophy. Our care approach will be based upon the little things that matter to the individual, going just that bit further instead of being constrained by time limitations. Our staff will be paid by the whole hour, not breaking the individual’s care routine into smaller increments, so they will have the time to dedicate to making sure everything is just right. We know that inviting carers into your home at a time when you are feeling vulnerable can be daunting: we pledge to do everything within our power to become a part of your ongoing lives rather than expect you to work around us.
